Bamaluz beach, Pier beach, and Lambeth walk are all dog friendly all year, while further afield, the Mexico Towans and Porthkidney Sands are also dog friendly all year and are only a short drive from St Ives.

The surfing here is world class but there's no safe way to go surfboarding with your pup on the South West Coast Path so think before you run! There are many other beaches in Cornwall where you can take your dog for a walk including Trencrom Cove, Trevelyan Bay, and Watergate Bay.

Can dogs go on St Ives Beach?

Dogs are now permitted on all of St Ives' beaches (excluding the Blue Flag Porthmeor beach) 24 hours a day, seven days a week until the end of June and again after August. Dogs are still allowed on these beaches before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. in July and August. The St Ives Town Council administers dog control on its beaches; for more information, call 01736 740555.

The park features more than 7 miles of shoreline with lifeguards on duty daily from 10am to 6pm in the summer months. Amenities at the beach include food, drink, restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and parking.

Beach parking passes are available for purchase online or at the park entrance station. These passes are required for morning and afternoon parking only, and can be purchased in advance by visiting www.parks.ca.gov/beaches. Children under 18 years old are allowed in the state parks without an adult guardian. However, those under 13 years old must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.

There are also tennis courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and sand volleyball courts here. Off-leash dogs are permitted on leashes in this park which is part of the Port of Los Angeles. Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times when they are not in their owners' cars.

Uptown Dog Park is a new dog park located near California Avenue and Pine Street. This park offers water and bathroom facilities, a place for dogs to sleep, and space for them to run off-leash.
